I refer to the item entitled Financial Crisis: Jason Azzopardi At IMF, Warns Maltese Against False Sense Of Security (October 14).
I would like to make a short but important clarification. While confirming the content of said article, I must disagree with the title chosen. The false sense of security I was mentioning and referring to in my comments was within the context of explaining that if the world's economies go into recession, Malta will indirectly be affected, for instance in tourism, just like any other country, due to more people having less money to spend on travel internationally.
That is the only reason why I felt comment was needed about the false sense of security.
Editorial note: The heading was, of course, accompanying the item containing Dr Azzopardi's comments, which are not being challenged. Hence, the heading cannot be read in isolation and the item, quoting Dr Azzopardi, clearly states, among other things: "Although we should be proud of our banking system, we cannot be presumptuous and live with a false sense of security". So the heading does reflect Dr Azzopardi's comments.
