The Maltese junior shooters representing the country in the Youth Commonwealth Games, currently underway in Pune, India, had their first day of competition yesterday.
In Trap, Ryan Bugeja is leading the provisional standings after Day One when he managed scores of 23, 24 and 21 for a total of 68 points from a maximum of 75.
Bugeja is one clay ahead of India's Kyanan De Chenai with Welsh shooter Scott Morgan on 65. Ward Thomas, of Britain, follows with 63.
The Trap competition continues this morning with another 50 clays before the final reserved for the best six shooters in the afternoon.
Tomorrow, Derek Bonanno will be competing in Double Trap and Charlot Chircop in 10M Air rifle on Thursday. Skeet shooter Clive Farrugia will be in action on Thursday and Friday.
In all, 71 Commonwealth countries are taking part in the Youth Games in Pune. Besides shooters, Malta's contingent also includes a team from track and field.
