Labour Party leader Joe Muscat said yesterday that One Productions needed to face the challenges of maintaining the production of high quality TV programmes and maintaining dominance in radio.

Two other challenges, or "new adventures" as Dr Muscat called them, were the planned new cell phone service and the opening of a second radio station focusing on youths.

Dr Muscat was speaking during the signing of a new collective agreement for the MLP's broadcasting company, One Productions, and the appointment of a new board, chaired by Phyllis Muscat.

Michael Vella Haber remains managing director. The other members of the board are Mario Cutajar and Tony Sultana.

The MLP said the new collective agreement provides improved conditions for the workers.

Among other things, the overtime pay will again be 90 minutes or more for every hour after a period of sacrifices so that the company could move forward, the MLP said.

The collective agreement is for the next three years and is backdated to June 1.
