I refer to John Guillaumier's letter Paceville: Babel By Day, Babylon By Night (August 16). Mr Guillaumier insults practically every little nook and cranny of Paceville and the folk that frequent it.

I found the letter most insulting. I am from Paceville and happily so.

Yes, I like Paceville just the way it is with the entire Babel/Babylon leisure centre, slightly rough at the edges. I love living in Paceville because it always feels like it's alive and kicking.

I would not wish to settle elsewhere on the island because to me, the other places look quite bleak by comparison. I find it highly necessary to have a place like Paceville. It's good that it is different. If Mr Guillaumier doesn't like it, he should move elsewhere, nobody is forcing him to be here, but it's not fair to spit on my plate.
