A captivating performance of creative musical dialogue, which spans from highly energetic to evocative and sensitive moments, will be held tomorrow at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta.

Sketches From Home, featuring three exceptional artistes brought together by a chance meeting during the Womad festival in the Republic of Korea, is being presented by Musiconnect (Malta) to celebrate the European Year for Intercultural Dialogue.

This dynamic, cross-cultural music performance features Guo Yue, on traditional Chinese flutes, Ben Murray (voice, piano and accordion) and Malta's own Renzo Spiteri on percussion.

Based in London, Guo Yue is a Real World Studios recording artiste who has performed in music festivals, theatres and arts venues worldwide, collaborating with musicians and composers and touching audiences with the eloquent beauty and descriptive power of his music and words.

His bamboo flutes can be heard on the soundtracks of Bertolluci's Oscar-winning film The Last Emperor and the Emmy award-winning Channel Four documentary series Beyond the Clouds.

Ben Murray is fast becoming well known as an accordion, piano and keyboard artiste, with sensitivity in his playing that is matched by the poetry of his voice.

He was nominated for a Mercury Music Award and two BBC Radio 2 folk awards (Best Original Song and Best Newcomer). He has recorded on Guo Yue's new album Music, Food And Love (Real World Records, 2006) and the two have since performed in various international events.

Meanwhile, Mr Spiteri, recently appointed as Maltese Ambassador for the European Year for Intercultural Dialogue 2008, has become synonymous with innovation and performances of outstanding artistic calibre.

From Greenwich Village (New York City) to the Sahara Desert, and Beijing, his concert schedules have taken him on a beautiful musical journey across the globe, collaborating with world-class musicians and using the universal language of music to bring different cultures together.

Mr Spiteri is an internationally endorsed artiste for Toca Percussion, Paiste Cymbals and Gongs and Gibraltar Hardware and is supported by Olimpus Music (Malta).

Tickets for tomorrow's performance, which starts at 7.30 p.m., are available from the Manoel Theatre booking office. Call 2124 6389 or book online on www.teatrumanoel.com.mt.
