One must acknowledge that once in a while Labour do get it right. The theme song they chose to accompany them in this election cannot be closer to the truth.
It alerts us to when the 1996-1998 Labour government changed VAT to CET and it went up from 15 per cent to anywhere between 22 per cent and 27 per cent. The bills for water and electricity went up. The number of taxes went up. The fiscal deficit went up. The cost of medicines to patients went up.
Unemployment went up. The cost of living went up. Indirect taxes went up. Inflation went up. Government subsidies and loans to the state enterprises went up.
Indeed, the only way is up with Labour!
