A 30-year-old man was jailed for 10 months and fined €932 (Lm400) after he was found guilty of possessing cocaine in circumstances that denoted it was not for his personal use.

Godfrey Ciangura of Rabat was found guilty of cocaine possession on and before February 21, 2004 in Bugibba.

Magistrate Laurence Quintano noted that four witnesses had seen Mr Ciangura throw away a container filled with cocaine.

Before handing down judgment, the magistrate took into consideration the amount of drugs found: Just under six-and-a-half grammes of cocaine, of 45 per cent purity.
