The police believe they have solved an attempted murder case that took place on December 30. A man in his late 20s is expected to be arraigned within the next few days.

On the night of December 30 the police were informed that a brawl had taken place at the Big Shot Bar in Mosta. Despite finding drops of blood near the bar, they were not given much information.

Shortly afterwards, a 39-year-old man from Marsa crashed in Vjal ir-Rihan, San Gwann. When the police went on the scene they found him unconscious and bleeding in the car. It was suspected that he had fainted before crashing into a wall. Investigating police established that the man found in the car had been drinking at the Big Shot Bar when an argument broke out and he was stabbed in the neck and face with a broken glass.

The victim left the bar and tried to go to hospital but fainted on the way and crashed. He was taken to hospital where his condition was found to be critical although it later improved after an operation.

Sources said investigations have led to the identification of the alleged aggressor, who has been arrested and interrogated. He is expected to be arraigned soon.
