The fourth annual Aquarium Fish Show of the Malta Aquarist Society - Gozo Section was recently held at the Ninu Cremona Lyceum main hall in Victoria; 12 club members participated in the show with a total of 22 fish tanks.

During judging, points were awarded according to the general arrangement of the aquarium and fish quality. Charles Pisani of Sannat won first place with an Oscars aquarium set-up. Charlie Axiaq of Victoria came in second with Peacock Cichlids while Robert Bajada of Sannat placed third with Mbuna Malawi.

A spokesman for the Gozo Ministry, Noel Formosa, and Victoria mayor Robert Tabone, spoke at the opening. A variety of tropical fish from the Rift lakes of Africa, such as Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika, South America and also locally bred fry, were on display.

There was also a selection of cold water fish, including koi, and several types of gold-fish.

The Malta Aquarist Society - Gozo Section meets every second Sunday of the month at 9 a.m. at the NGO centre in Xewkija.
