Kaiserslautern: Striker Bjorn Runstrom has signed a one-year contract with FC Kaiserslautern, Swedish media reported yesterday. The 23-year-old Swede joins the German Bundesliga club from English Premier League club Fulham.

Di Salvo: Real Madrid have signed up fitness coach Walter Di Salvo from Manchester United. The Italian will head up their new performance centre at their training headquarters in Valdebebas.

Barcelona: Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard has confirmed that 24 million euros ($33.14 million) signing Thierry Henry will play his first game for the club in their pre-season tour of Scotland. "(Henry) will play some minutes," the Dutchman said. Barcelona face Scottish Premier League sides Dundee United and Hearts on July 26 and 28.

Steaua Bucharest: Colombia goalkeeper Robinson Zapata signed a thee-year deal with Romanian current runners-up Steaua Bucharet in a move from Cucuta Deportivo. Zapata, 29, was sent off during Colombia's recent Copa America match against United States.

Golf: Sergio Garcia repelled a spectacular charge from American Steve Stricker to accelerate into a three-stroke lead after the British Open third round yesterday. The 27-year-old Spaniard moved within touching distance of his first major victory by carding a 68 for 204, nine under. Stricker powered through the field to take second spot on 207 after equalling Colin Montgomerie's course record of 64, seven under.
