Applications are open for a Science Art Contest, the Malta Student Science Forum and the Contest for Young Scientists, the National Student Travel Foundation said yesterday.

The events, together with the NSTF School Contest for Young Scientists, are part of the activities of the seventh Science Week to be held in May.

Science Week has become a point of reference for students, with over 900 students visiting last year's activity daily, making it one of the most popular educational activities on these islands, NSTF said.

The hands-on approach which the foundation has taken towards education has played a key role in attracting the ever-growing number of participants.

In addition to these main events, NSTF holds talks and shows on a number of science-related topics.

Francis Stivala, secretary general of the foundation, said NSTF was committed to make learning a fun activity which people look forward to.

The Malta Chamber of Scientists and St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity are involved in the organisation of the event.
