Suspended jail term over fictional VRT test

A licensed VRT tester and his client have each been given a two-year jail term suspended for two years for their involvement in the issuing of a certificate confirming that a car was roadworthy without it having been tested.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti found VRT tester Biagio Muscat, 51, from Zejtun guilty of forgery, fraud and the malicious use of forged documents when he issued a certificate stating that Twanny Fenech's car was roadworthy on October 21, 2004.

Mr Fenech, 49, of Tarxien, was found guilty of complicity with Mr Muscat.

Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted.
