Maltacom will be playing an active role during L-Istrina on December 30.

Apart from being the official telecoms provider, the company will not be charging for calls and will also waive other fees related to donations made by phone.

Maltacom last year donated over Lm20,000 in call fees to L-Istrina.

Maltacom will install a phone-in system at the new convention centre at Ta' Qali, where the event will be held. This system will enable members of the public to pledge their donations via a telephone call.

The company will supply 141 lines and provide back-up technical staff. Besides 90 donation lines, another 51 lines will be reserved for coordination and logistics of the fund-raising marathon.

Between 1999 and last year, over Lm3 million were raised through telephone calls.
