We fully sympathise with the residents who have objected to the issue of the permit for a band club (November 7).

We happen to live close to the parish centre of St Gregory's church where (in the words of Joe Deguara, president of the Musical Society) they "practise and hold functions".

The functions are held regularly throughout the year, especially in summer. We can tolerate the practising of the band marches for the annual feast, because they finish at a reasonable hour, but what we cannot tolerate any more is the loud music which goes on well beyond midnight whenever they organise barbecues and discos.

The parish priest, the local council and the police know about this, but still it goes on.

Does anybody care?
