The Committee Against The Proposed Recycling Plant in Marsascala said it will be intensifying its action and involving residents in its fight "for justice".

The committee yesterday called on Marsascala residents and neighbouring local councils to forward their objections after WasteServ submitted a full development application for work to start on the controversial upgrading of the plant.

The committee condemned WasteServ's application for the demolition of the current plant to build a new one.

Despite pending procedures before the Malta Environment and Planning Authority's Appeal Board and the Constitutional Court, WasteServ has proposed a new development consisting of four waste recycling plants on the same site, the committee said.

This action was irresponsible and further confirmed that any studies that were carried out were "false", since WasteServ and Environment Minister George Pullicino had already decided that the plant was to be built at the Sant' Antnin site, the committee claimed.
