As a taxpayer and thus one of the thousands of employers of Members of Parliament, may I know whether those MPs who did not turn up for work - without a valid reason or a doctor's certificate - had a day's pay deducted from their salary?

The Times report on Thursday, January 26 stated that on the previous day there were only nine MPs in the Chamber at the time when the sitting was adjourned. Apparently the House was due to start debating a Bill on the budgetary measures in committee. A day's "productivity" was lost.
