About 1,400 Claudio Baglioni fans are gearing up to attend his sold-out concert at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, in Valletta this evening at 8.30.

The top Italian singer-songwriter, who has been in the media spotlight more than ever over the past months, marking his 40 years of a successful career in music, arrives in Malta this afternoon and leaves tomorrow.

"Everything is under control," said Nigel Camilleri, the director of NnG Promotions, which is bringing over the artiste together with Colours of Malta.

Mr Baglioni's manager and crew have been here for a couple of days and they "absolutely love it", Dr Camilleri said. Mr Baglioni should be singing his all-time greatest songs that his fans are sure to be familiar with, as well as a few songs from his latest triple album, which also include reworked top hits.

Contractually, Mr Baglioni's performance will last an hour and a half but really it should go on for two, Dr Camilleri said.

Mr Baglioni has been to Malta before but only to perform at private functions and corporate events. Tonight is the first time the Maltese public will be able to enjoy his live one-man show.

NnG Promotions is planning other events for next year to be announced within the next few weeks, he said.
