Malta joined several countries to mark Homeless Animals Day last Saturday.

The Island Sanctuary Association organised a silent march to draw the attention to the sad plight of homeless animals.

The association promotes a culture of spaying and neutering, rather than indiscriminate breeding and dumping of unwanted pets. Animal lovers who took part in this candlelight vigil marched behind a banner reading Don't Breed Or Buy While Homeless Animals Die - Spay/Neuter Your Pets. Participants walked along the Sliema Seafront to Spinola.

Supporting the event were members of Animal Rights Group, Animal Rights Malta, Hakunamatatamalta, Happy Paws, Graffitti Group, Noah's Ark, Stray Animals' Support Group, SOS Animals and Yelp for help.
