The House of Representatives is due to resume its debate in committee stage on the National Archives Bill when it meets this evening.

The bill provides for the setting up of a body corporate, which will be known as the National Archives of Malta.

Its task will be to "preserve the collective memory of the Maltese nation" through the protection of archives and by ensuring public access to them.

Also on the agenda is a bill on Malta's Membership of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
