In Holland: PSV Eindhoven need four more points to clinch their 18th Dutch title after they won 1-0 at Willem II Tilburg while rivals AZ Alkmaar were held 1-1 at home by NAC Breda yesterday. With five matches remaining, PSV are top of the Dutch first division with 76 points, 14 more than Ajax Amsterdam who beat Feyenoord 3-2 with an injury-time winner from Hedwiges Maduro. AZ dropped a spot to third on 61 points with a game in hand, while Feyenoord remain fourth on 56.

Fans Hurt: Two Feyenoord fans were seriously injured when a home-made firework 'bomb' exploded in one of their pockets outside the De Kuip stadium before their team hosted rivals Ajax yesterday. The two supporters were taken to hospital suffering from burns before the match at Feyenoord's stadium despite 1,600 of their travelling fans being sent home before the kick-off after they wrecked two trains.

Yorke: Birmingham's Trinidad striker Dwight Yorke has signed to play for Sydney in the new Australian A-League, which kicks off in August. Sydney chief executive Andy Harper said yesterday that the 33-year-old former Manchester United forward had agreed terms with his club, but would not reveal how much the player would be paid. Yorke is the English Premier League's seventh all-time top-scorer with 122 goals.

Australia MOVE: Australia have cleared another hurdle in their bid to join the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) after the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) said they fully supported the move. FIFA are expected to make a decision on the move later this year although Australia will not be allowed to join AFC until after the 2006 World Cup.

Bnei Sakhnin: Israeli Premier League strugglers Bnei Sakhnin have parted company with coach Eyal Lachman. The decision follows a poor run of form culminating in Friday's 4-0 humiliation by bottom side Hapoel Haifa that has left the club in danger of relegation. Last season Lachman made history by guiding Sakhnin to a memorable State Cup victory in their first season in the top flight. It was the first time a club representing Israel's minority Arab sector had won the coveted trophy.
