What is the role of the European Investment Bank?

The European Investment Bank (EIB) was established to facilitate the funding of investments that promote balanced regional development of the Community and European integration.

The EIB provides loans at finance market rates in two forms: global loans to financial intermediaries operating at national, regional or even local level; and loans on larger projects exceeding €25 million can be agreed directly with EIB headquarters.
