CC Ortigia, who finished seventh in the 12-team Italian top league, won the Neptunes International Tournament, ending the competition with maximum points.

Yesterday morning, they beat SG Neukolln (Berlin) 14-7 to make it three wins from three matches.

In a low-scoring match played previously, Sirens defeated hosts Neptunes 4-2 to finish second, with the latter ending third, followed by the German top division team.

Scorers were David Cutajar, Mario Zammit, Karl Montfort and Clint Mercieca for Sirens and Matthew Pisani and Charlie Zammit for Neptunes.

Sirens finished the tournament with a total of three points from three matches after they had drawn their match with SG Neukolln, 8-8 on Saturday.

Neptunes managed only two points by virtue of their opening-day 10-9 success over SG Neukolln.

At the end of the tournament, organised to mark Neptunes' 75th anniversary, Minister for Tourism Dr Francis Zammit Dimech, presented the winners' cup to Mauro Bordone of Ortigia and other prizes to each of the participants.
