Youth charged after drugs find

An 18-year-old youth from Fgura, Ryan Charles Busuttil, yesterday was arraigned before Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima and charged with the possession and trafficking of cannabis resin.

He was not granted bail.

The young man was arrested by members of the police Drugs Squad following a raid at Fgura during which they found him in possession of a kilo of cannabis resin, according to a police statement.

The police said the drug was also found in a garage which was hired to him and at his residence.

The raid was carried out at about noon on Friday and was held after police had successfully concluded investigations on the trafficking of cannabis resin in the Fgura, Cottonera, Zabbar and Zejtun areas following investigations over the past days.

Investigations were conducted by Inspector Norbert Ciappara with the Drugs Squad.

The presiding magistrate had earlier appointed a team of experts to conduct an inquiry.
