Wine launch afloat

The latest addition to Marsovin's range of wines, Atlantis, was launched on the Fernandez II.

Marsovin chairman Tony J. Cassar spoke of the reason for naming the wines after the lost city, saying that "in view of Marsovin's constant support for the local arts and culture scene, and the fact that the lost city of Atlantis could possibly form a big part of our history, Marsovin thought the name was adequate for a full bodied, potent red wine, and a fresh, crisp white, indicating the myriad characteristics of this rich and wonderful city that has been steeped in mystery for over 9,000 years".

Mr Cassar went on to mention that Marsovin's commitment to producing quality Maltese wines was proven through their investment in vineyards, training of experts in the field and strict yield controls.

After much research and investigation into the real location of this mythical city, Anton Mifsud has published a book Echoes of Plato's Island, with strong indications that the Maltese islands are linked to the actual location of Atlantis.

"It is with this link in mind that Marsovin have chosen to pay homage to the mystical city through the launch of these two wines. Both wines are blends of two varieties, Grillo - Chardonnay and Primitivo - Cabernet Sauvignon; Grillo and Primitivo being two types of grape that are typical to the southern Mediterranean region," Mr Cassar said.
