The Controversial Cottonera Marina - one of the factors which led to the downfall of the Labour government in 1998 - was inaugurated yesterday by Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech.

Designed by Grand Harbour Marina together with Camper and Nicholsons Marinas, the Cottonera Marina is a Lm4 million project. It will be administered by Camper and Nicholsons through a management contract.

With the 230 berthing spots at this marina, including 33 for super yachts, Malta now has more than 1,500 berths - 1,024 of them in marinas managed by the Maritime Authority and another 530 in private marinas.

The Cottonera Marina also includes 300 berths for the boats of residents of the three cities.
