A film directed by Philip Haas, Angels and insects, will be shown next Wednesday at the Erin Serracino Inglott Hall at 8.45 p.m. Based on a short story by A.S. Byatt, author of the bestselling novel Possession, this film is a powerful romantic drama of shocking sensuality and erotic deception which uncovers the decadent desires lurking beneath the surface of Victorian England.
Penniless naturalist William Adamson is taken into the home of rich philanthropist Rev. Harald Alabaster, where he falls passionately in love with his youngest daughter Eugenia. Soon married to Eugenia, William's life within the large aristocratic family rapidly becomes entangled in the dark family secrets of the Alabasters, whose behaviour seems to be modelled on the ruthless strategies and laws of the insect kingdom.
