Karl Izzo’s U-17's selection trounced Poland 14-4 for a perfect morale-boosting win their opening match of the European Championship qualifying tournament being held in Malta.

The U-17's boys displayed aggressive waterpolo, with their sense anticipation, effecting several steals and improved physique showing the tournament in Slovakia left desired effect.

The Maltese were spearheaded by Jake Muscat, a great flourishing talent, who netted a hat-trick inside the first two minutes and went on to add four more to a total of seven goals.

Having reduced their Polish opponents to sparring partners, the coach put in some fringe players after change of ends to win handsomely with Ben Cachia and Mark Carani coming to fore. This evening Malta host Switzerland.

Other results: Greece vs Switzerland 28-1; Switzerland vs Czech Republic 10-8; Greece vs Poland 25-6.
