Badly damaged

A pavement in St Paul’s Bay was badly damaged recently, probably by a large vehicle passing through the narrow road. As a result, the pavement is nothing but a gaping hole, which could soon be the cause of a serious accident. No time should be wasted in doing the necessary repairs... before it is too late.

No respect

White boxes painted on the ground are meant to make the best of available space for parking and ensure vehicles are not blocking one another. Still, some motorists give two hoots to such instructions and park haphazardly. The picture above was taken recently at the Portomaso underground car park. It seems the driver of the big black vehicle thinks he owns the place.

In shambles

The Sliema front is in urgent need of some attention. A reader who went for a stroll there was shocked to find benches with paint peeling off, street lamps without any lightbulbs and rusty bins. Surely, given how popular this area in Sliema is, the authorities tasked with its upkeep should do their utmost to keep it up to standard.

Foreign plates

A number of trucks with foreign number plates can be seen across the island, suggesting that the trend of having non-Malta registered vehicles has now shifted to heavy plant too. By law, foreign-registered vehicles must be licensed in Malta within a given period of time. Is it just an impression – or perception, as some senior Transport Malta executive might put it – or is the number of foreign-registered vehicles actually growing?
