Eco-School students from 50 schools last week presented MPs with a document outlining their environmental concerns and ideas how they can be tackled, at the 14th Eco-Schools Parliament session held at the Parliament building. The session was chaired by Speaker Anġlu Farrugia and attended by several MPs.

The document had been compiled and approved at the ninth annual Eco-Schools Young People’s Summit held at Maria Regina College’s Dun Manwel Attard Young Adult Education Resource Centre, Wardija, attended by 140 pupils and students from 28 schools.

The document deals with issues such as the excessive number of cars and traffic generated, marine pollution, especially by plastic waste, and the lack of green open spaces due to too much building development.

During the summit the students raised environmental concerns affecting their future, discussed ideas and formulated recommendations how to ensure a good quality of life.

It was organised by Nature Trust FEE Malta in collaboration with the Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee as part of the Eco-Schools programme.
