World-renowned pizza delivery expert Domino’s has opened its doors to its 16,000th store in Cheektowaga, New York. To commemorate such a remarkable milestone, Domino’s presented $16,000 as a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation during the inauguration ceremony.

Domino’s success story traces its origins back to 1960, when the two Monagham brothers purchased a store in Ypsilanti, Michigan named ‘DomiNicks’ pizza. In the years that followed, the owners adopted a long-term strategy of constant improvement, innovation and customer satisfaction; a philosophy still adhered to within the franchise today.

In time, the efforts upholding these principles continually paid off for the American company, allowing the franchise to expand its borders, opening stores all around America and internationally. On September 4, 2017 Domino’s arrived in Malta.

The secret ingredient to Domino’s success has been the franchise’s capability to identify new technological opportunities within the market that set it apart from the competition. In the US alone, Domino’s generates over 65 per cent of sales through digital channels.

As a franchise, Domino’s has developed several innovative menu-ordering platforms in order to simplify and streamline communication while maintaining cost-effectiveness. Based on retail sales, the American franchise has become the largest pizza company in the world.

Striving to continue on its success, over the past five years the pizza chain has doubled down and grown by nearly 50 per cent, shattering company records. However, with these record numbers in hand, the franchise by no means intend to put its foot on the brake pedal as it has announced another major American expansion, with plans to add another 2,350 stores in the US alone by 2028. To achieve this future goal, Domino’s is expected to make an investment of between $115 million and $120 million, presenting a unique opportunity for individuals keen on the brand.

Domino’s CEO Ritch Allison said: “This is an incredible milestone for Domino’s. We’ve grown our total global store count by nearly 4,800 stores in the past five years, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to commemorate our 16,000th store in the world, right here in New York.”
