A 22-year-old man was seriously injured on Friday when he fell from the balcony of an apartment in Sliema.

The police said the accident happened in Triq de Piro at 5.30am.

The victim, a Swede, was assisted on site by a medical team and then taken to hospital by ambulance. The balcony was about three stories high.

The police are investigating.
