BRIFFA. On February 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, ROMANO (Il-Bre), of Qormi, aged 74, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Anthony and his wife Joanne, Josette and her husband Paul, his grandchildren Raisa and her husband Ian, Daniel and his girlfriend Sherona, his sisters and brothers, in-laws and their respective families, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, February 23, at 2.30pm, for St George’s parish church, Qormi, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Qormi cemetery. CARUANA. On Thursday, February 21, MICHAEL CARUANA, CEng MIET, widower of Mary, née Abela, aged 88, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughters Sylvana, widow of John Guillaumier, Vivienne and her husband Reno Psaila, and Louise Ann, his grandchildren Kirk, Dirk and their spouses Tiziana and Diane respectively and Rachel, his great-grandchildren Ben and Beppe, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, February 23, at 9am, for St Theresa Sanctuary, Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at St Gregory Cemetery, Żejtun. CASSAR. On February 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, LOUIS (Ġiġi), of Floriana, residing at Marsa, aged 98, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Polly and Victor Scerri, Publius, Joseph and AnnaMarie, Victor, Marianne and Gaetano Avallone, Mario and Anna and Charles and Marthese, his 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, February 25, at 8.30am, at the Holy Trinity parish church, Marsa. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares, Mater Dei Hospital, will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant him eternal peace.

FRANCALANZA. On February 21, MARYROSE (Rose), née Grech, widow of Saviour, aged 94, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her children, Tanya and her husband Brian, Mariella, Michael and his wife Bernadette, her grand-children Elaine and her husband Robbie, Nicola, Michela and her husband Mark, her great-granddaughter Sophie, her sister Stella, nephews and nieces. Mass præsente cadavere will be said today, Friday, February 22, at 2pm, at Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

GATT. On January 29, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANNIE, widow of Walter A. Gatt, residing at Casa Arkati, Mosta, aged 96, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved children Maria and Ben Muscat, John and Josephine Gatt, Edwidge Borg and Michael Symons, Christine and Bjorn Gillgren, Josianne Stottrup, her grandchildren Lara, Ben, Brian, Ian, Josef, Alexander, Mark, Annika, David, Jennifer and their respective partners, her great-grandchildren Jake, Kane, Kate, Luigi, Mia, Sienna, Lawrence and Rowan, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, February 23, at 8am, for Our Lady of the Annunciation parish church, Balzan, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. KIRPALANI. On February 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, LACHMAN of Msida, aged 95. Sadly missed and fondly remembered by his daughters Anna and Jacqueline, her husband Joseph, his niece Jasmine, Carmen Cachia, other relatives and friends. MIFSUD BONNICI – GIUSEPPE, Chief Justice Emeritus, Professor of Philosophy of Law at the University of Malta, aged 88. He leaves to mourn his great loss his wife of nearly 60 years, Maria, née Cremona, his daughters Josette and her husband Joseph Calleja, Marie and her husband Tonio Darmanin and Dr Anna; his grandchildren Andrea, Giulio and his fiancée Diane, Pia and her husband Andrea de Battista, Michela, Daniela and Gabriella and his great-grandchild Beatrice; his beloved brother President Emeritus Ugo and his wife Gemma; his in-laws Anna Buttigieg and Dr Giovanni Cremona; his very close cousins, the Mifsud Bonnici family and the Pace Ross family, other relatives and good friends. Funeral Mass will be said on Sunday, February 24, at 2.30pm, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Valletta. PACE. On February 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY of Senglea, residing in Attard, aged 66, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Doris, née Grima, his two daughters Lorraine and Dr Caroline, her partner Daniel and his only granddaughter Luna, his sister and his in-laws, their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Friday, February 22, at 2pm, for St Mary’s parish church, Attard, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm. His body will be cremated.

VELLA. The Lord called to His side JULIAN, of High Ridge, Madliena, aged 70. His wife Marie Josette, his son Silvain and wife Audrey, grandchildren Ileana and Francesca, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends will be missing the genuine charisma of a most loving, caring and lovable husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, February 23, at 8.30am, for Tal-Ibraġ parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. ZAMMIT. On February 21, at the convent of the Sisters of St Dorothy, Sliema, Sr MARGARET Zammit passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss the congregation of the Sisters of St Dorothy, her brother Michael and his wife Maryanne, her in-laws Yvonne, widow of her brother John, Luke Galea, widower of her sister Rose, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Connie, his daughters Denise and Marlene and her husband Edwin, grandchildren Darren and Kimberly and her husband Mario, great-grandchildren Gianluca and Valentina, his brothers and sisters, in-laws, their respective families, other relatives and friends.
