The mobile app ‘Konsumatur’ launched by the MCCAA in 2017 has been updated with three new categories of information: Contracts, Prices and Travel. A subsection concerning the purchase of services was also added under the Shopping category. The app now has six main categories.

In the Shopping category consumers find useful information on their rights and responsibilities when purchasing products or services. This section also provides information on the remedies consumers may claim when the product or service purchased does not conform to the original contract of sale.

In the Online Shopping category, the app provides detailed information on the right to cancel and the procedure consumers need to follow to obtain a refund. This category also includes information on problems consumers may encounter when shopping online and what they need to do to solve them.

The recently added category on Prices contains information on how prices should be indicated in shops and information on when it is not necessary to indicate prices.

Another new category is that of Contracts. In this section consumers will find information on contract terms. Consumer contracts with unfair clauses may be reported to the authority through the Flag a Concern form, which is also found in the app within the menu section.

The Travel category includes information about the rights consumers have as air passengers when they are denied boarding or when their flight is delayed or cancelled. This category also includes information related to the purchase of travel packages.

The Complaints category explains the process consumers should follow when they encounter problems with products or services purchased. If consumers need to lodge a complaint with the Office for Consumer Affairs, they can simply fill in a complaint form on the app and send it electronically. Consumers may also attach documents and photos to the complaint form before sending it.

The Konsumatur mobile app can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store or from Play Store for Android devices.
