Out of the 798 people reported missing to the police last year, there are still 39 who were never found, according to information given in response to a parliamentary question.

However, the information given does not indicate whether the same person may have been reported missing more than once.

The information requested by MP Karol Aquilina revealed that between 2013 and 2018, 4,219 people were reported missing but that 4,030 were found, leaving 189 unaccounted for.

The majority of those who go missing – 2,367 – are minors under the age of 18, but the data provided by Home Affairs Minister Michael Farrugia did not analyse those still missing by age.
