Renowned UK children’s poet Ian Bland, who specialises in action poetry, recently led a workshop for 30 children from Year 4 through to Year 8 from State and Church schools who are participating in the Young Writers’ Club.

This was one of a series of 10 workshops being run by experienced writing tutors to help the participants develop their writing skills, in both Maltese and English, by making use of the Writing Process.

During one of the workshops the parents/guardians had the opportunity to participate in the writing tasks and to provide feedback on their children’s writings.

The club, which was launched last October by the National Literacy Agency of the Education Ministry is intended for budding child authors who would like to develop further their creative writing skills. The workshops will resume in January following a short break for the Christmas holidays.

Parents/guardians who would like their children to take part in the workshops due to be held between January and March may apply by calling the agency on 2598 3324.
