Amahl and the Night Visitors, an opera in one act by Gian Carlo Menotti with an original English libretto by the composer, is on at the Manoel Theatre from Friday to Sunday.

Audiences can follow the charming story of Amahl, a crippled shepherd boy who offers his crutch as a present to the Christ child, as he is healed and joins the Three Kings on their way to Bethlehem.

Michael Summers and Tama Matheson are conductor and director respectively. Amahl will be played by Jamie Busuttil Griffin (Friday 9.30am show) and Gianluca Abdilla Castillo (Friday 11.30am show), his mother by Gillian Zammit, King Melchior by Tama Matheson, King Caspar by Thomas Birch, King Balthazar by Albert Buttigieg and The Page by Joseph Lia.

Produced as part of the ŻiguŻajg 2018 International Arts Festival for Children and Young People in collaboration with Valletta 2018 Foundation, the play’s recommended age is 9+.
