We refer to the letter ‘Cancelled bus trips’ (October 29) by Vince Williams who claimed that, on October 10, the Valletta-bound 6.20pm bus trip was cancelled.

We have taken note of his complaint and looked into the recorded data to be able to give him the feedback he must be expecting from our end. As such, our recorded data confirms that, on October 10, no bus trips were in fact cancelled but trips were all delayed due to heavy traffic in the area. Recorded data shows that the bus serving route 54 departing at 6.15pm was delayed by 26 minutes at departure, therefore arriving late at the bus stops.

On October 18, the 6.15pm bus on route 54 was 18 minutes late due to the delay on the previous Valletta-Attard trip whereas, on October 23, the 7.30am bus on route X3 was 28 minutes late also due to traffic and, according to our records, this trip departed on time.

We thank the correspondent for his acknowledgement that the public transport service has indeed improved.

We also assure him that the company is fully aware of the challenges being faced and is doing all that is possible to address them to bring the improvements that are needed.

We continue to encourage all stakeholders and road users to cooperate by not causing road obstacles, especially in those roads that are served by public transport routes.
