The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Wednesday.

The Times of Malta reports that experts are studying ways for the phase-out of vehicles using diesel and petrol, starting with a ban on imports.  

The Malta Independent reports that Silvio Scerri, the former right-hand man of minister Manwel Mallia, has been appointed CEO at Arms Ltd. It also says that 45.2% of Maltese adults will have diabetes by 2045.

MaltaToday reports that Archbishop Charles Scicluna has been appointed adjunct secretary of the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. It also reports an audit report that the tracking of the Maltese fishing fleet is almost inextistent. 

l-orizzont says the Maltese economy is maintaining strong growth, with figures from the Central Bank showing growth at twice the EU average.

In-Nazzjon says the prime minister is appearing indifferent to the developments regarding 17 Black, and is touring European capitals with a 10-strong delegation, using a private plane.
