A project by the Karl Vella Foundation entitled ‘Bringing Creativity to Life’ was recently concluded with an event at St Aloysius College, Birkirkara, presided by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, during which the projects’ highlights and end productions were showcased.

The KVF project, run together with Media For Development Foundation (MFDF), used story-telling, puppets, filming and video post-production to enhance the creativity and psychological development of children from families disrupted by illness.

During the project, the participating children, guided by trainers from the Media for Development Foundation, created stories, designed characters, made use of filming equipment and participated in voiceovers and sound effects. The children’s work was shown during the event, including various short features, a mime and a soft puppets video entitled Paniku fil-Ġungla. The event was opened with children performing a musical track using percussion instruments and concluded by the children singing We are the World.

This was the second such KVF project. It was supported by the President’s Award for Creativity in collaboration with Arts Council Malta. Besides the President, the event was also addressed by KVF chairperson Claire Chircop, MFDF chairman Fr Stefan Bonanno, project manager Mark Calleja and Mary Ann Cauchi, director of Funding and Strategy at the Arts Council Malta.
