The government carried out 79 per cent of the budgetary measures for 2018, hailing it a success over the previous year, Finance Minister Edward Scicluna announced.

In total, 178 measures were implemented. An additional 45 measures from budget proposals of previous years were also completed.

Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar insisted that the measures that weren’t put in place were not simply being put on the shelf, and that all the work done was being monitored, he added.

The 2019 budget will be unveiled on Monday.
