Valletta forward Kyrian Nwoko could be seeking pastures new come January as English League One side Scunthorpe are chasing his signature.

According to reports, Scunthorpe have been monitoring the 21-year-old in recent weeks. Scouts from Scunthorpe travelled to Malta earlier this week to see Nwoko in action in the national team’s U-21 qualifier against Cyprus. Other scouts from different clubs were also in attendance.

For the record, Nwoko sealed a 1-1 draw for Silvio Vella’s clan with a stoppage time equalizer as Malta finished the qualifiers campaign with four points.

When contacted by the Times of Malta, Nwoko confirmed the interest by Scunthorpe but did not shed light on whether the deal will go through or not.

“I am aware of the reports about me. I can confirm that what is written is true, but I cannot elaborate beyond that,” he said.

Nwoko is eager to get more playing time at Valletta as this season he only managed cameo appearances in the first three league outings while in the last three fixtures he was left on the bench following the arrival of Montenegrin forward Bojan Kaljevic.

Nwoko, who joined the Citizens from St Andrews last season, has eight goals and three assists in 40 games for Valletta and was part of the team that claimed every domestic crown in the previous campaign.

Scunthorpe are currently sitting in 13th position with 17 points, after 13 games played.
