A mammoth exhibition, featuring between 800 and 1,000 scale models, is currently on display in Naxxar. It has been set up by the Association of Model Engineers Malta (AME), which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

The association currently counts 100 members, with the youngest being a 13-year-old and the oldest aged 80.

Visitors at the Victoria Hall exhibition can admire the minute details of their creations, which are divided into sections, in-cluding aircraft, cars, crafts, dioramas, figures, engineering, marine, military vehicles, space and science fiction, war-gaming and robotics.

The engineering section has put up various working steam engines and a diorama of the Malta Train is also in operation.

The main attraction is a display marking the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force, which features about 100 models of aircraft that served in the British aerial force since its foundation.

Visitors can also get an idea of the craftsmanship required to build the models as members of the association are demonstrating their skills on site. Products related to modelling are also on sale from commercial stalls.

The exhibition is being held in association with the Naxxar local council.

The exhibition is on at the Victoria Hall, Oratory Street, Naxxar, until Sunday. It is open daily from 9am to 8pm and on Sunday from 9am to 6pm. Entrance is free. For more information about AME, visit the association’s Facebook page.
