There was nothing illegal in the way policemen handled the activists once some of them went over the limit at the Planning Authority premises last Thursday while they were demonstrating against plans for a fuel station outside development zones in Żejtun.

Once the protestors refused to obey orders by the police to leave there was no alternative. The officers were only doing their job. Who will be responsible once matters get out of hand by the protesters’ actions?

Protestors must learn to allow the authorities to settle the matter peacefully rather than have some activists, who consider their actions legitimate, resort to bully tactics.
