Good morning, the following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers.

Times of Malta reports how an IT glitch, which apparently prevented a Contracts Department evaluation committee from accessing a computer file, has cost taxpayers dearly.  Huawei Technologies Italia Srl said it was competing for the supply of a fibre optic link between Malta and Gozo but the Department of Contracts preferred to grant the contract to another company offering the same service but costing €237,000 more than contact them to solve the software problem.

MaltaToday reports how the Customs Department made its biggest ever drug haul, valued at €28.5m in containers bound for Libya. It also reports how Adrian Delia said the PN representative will be voting against the planned development over the former ITS site, when it is considered by the PA board.

In-Nazzjon also quotes Dr Delia saying development must no longer be at the detriment of the environment, but the environment must itself become a driver of the economy.

l-orizzont also leads with the record drugs haul and quotes a senior Customs official praising the way technology had been used. The newspaper also reports how Malta's economy is the fastest-growing in Europe, according to DBRS.

The Malta Independent quotes an MEP who sits on a Rule of Law delegation visiting Malta, denying that they had an anti-government agenda and insisting that any NGOs could meet them.
