Infrastructure Malta is upgrading the roundabout next to the Mosta Technopark, and the nearby pedestrian crossings, to continue reducing accident risks for road users travelling through this junction.
The roundabout will be closed as from Monday, from 9pm to 5am, until the end of the week, affecting all the access lanes.
The roundabout alignments are being modified to improve the efficiency and safety of the northbound approach lanes, from Lija towards the centre of Mosta.
At the same time, the nearby pedestrian pelican crossings at the T-junction with Triq Pantar will be shifted a few metres away from the roundabout to reduce accident risks.
The Mosta Technopark roundabout links Naxxar (Vjal il-Labour), Lija (Triq il-Mosta) and Mosta (Triq il-Belt Valletta) along one of the main transport routes towards the northern parts of Malta.
Road users were encouraged to follow the alternative routes indicated by roadside signs posted in the area. Traffic management officers will be on site to assist road users.
These junction improvement works will consolidate last summer’s upgrade of the arterial road corridor between Lija and Mosta, which led to significant travel time reductions along this route.
Similar works to improve the efficiency and safety of the area’s road network are currently underway at the T’Alla u Ommu Hill roundabout between Burmarrad and the Birguma area of Naxxar. These works are scheduled to be completed this month as well.
