The Gozo diocese held a Marian manifestation in Marsalforn for a clean, moral environment. The event started with the rosary, followed by a concelebrated Mass led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech with the participation of the Voci Angeliche choir of Marija Bambina parish of Xagħra.

Mgr Grech, referring to the letter by Pope Francis following sexual abuse cases in Pennsylvania, said: “I take this opportunity to once again appeal that if someone is aware of abuse of this kind, report this crime to the police. I thank God that the majority of our priests are good.”

Mgr Grech said in 1999 the Church in Malta was one of the very first to adopt a policy on this subject. “It is my responsibility as a bishop to take action if such cases arise. As I said in my last pastoral letter, if we see some stones get loose and fall or even if a supporting arch of the sanctuary totters, since the Church is resting on Jesus Christ we should not lose heart… Jesus, the keystone, is still in place.”
