Updated 9.52pm - Several people were injured after a man opened fire in Central Malmo, Sweden on Monday evening.

The man fired an automatic weapon at a crowd celebrating the win of Swedish national team in the World Cup, according to preliminary reports.

Sweden beat South Korea 1-0.

At least four people were hurt. Their condition is unknown.

Swedish police said there was no cause for the public to be alarmed.

"We have sealed off the area and are conducting interviews and will interview those who are injured if they can or are willing to speak," Stephan Soderholm, a spokesman for the police, said.

The police said later the shooting was 'not terrorism related' but the motive was unknown.
