Birkirkara completed a second major signing in the space of a few days when they secured the services of veteran striker Michael Mifsud.

The Stripes, who earlier this week had wrapped up the signing of another Malta international, Paul Fenech, who joined for Balzan, had been working on a deal to bring Malta's all-time leading scorer to the club for a few days but a deal was finally reached on Sunday.

Mifsud, whose contract with Valletta expired at the end of last season, agreed personal terms and put pen to paper on a one-year contract.

Mifsud requires no introduction in Maltese football, as the experienced thirty-seven-year-old forward has made a name for himself and for Maltese football throughout his very successful playing career.

A record of appearances and goals with the National Team under his belt, Michael is considered as one of the most lethal forwards in the Maltese islands. Mifsud also enjoyed several successful experiences overseas and certainly that his experience and potential will be an asset for the team.

Mifsud has already played under the guidance of coach Paul Zammit with Valletta FC in 2015-2016 and in the following season.

Birkirkara's Technical Director Michael Valenzia was delighted to have succeeded in luring Mifsud to the club.

"We are very happy that we have added Michael Mifsud to our squad. He has a wealth of experience and we believe that he can help us achieve our targets. He has the hunger and desire to win and that matches our ambitions. We wish him the best of luck for this season," Valenzia said.
