The government hotline for servizz.gov received 30,000 calls in one month last year, Principal Secretary Mario Cutajar said.

The number, 153, can be accessed to request information on government services or report complaints on bureaucracy, among other things.

Speaking during the presentation of the annual report of the measures of simplification measures, Mr Cutajar said 79 per cent of the measures planned by the government were implemented.

160 simplification measures were implemented in 2017, including measures that were brought forward from the year before, Mr Cutajar said.

Mr Cutajar was speaking at Castille, where he was flanked by Parliamentary Secretary for reforms Julia Farrugia Portelli and Rosianne Cutajar, who made her first appearance as Commissioner for Anti-Bureaucracy.

Ms Cutajar’s appointment had been kept under wraps for some unknown reason and was revealed by the Sunday Times last March.

Ms Cutajar said she would try “to act as a bridge between the government entities and the people”.

She said she had been meeting with the college of regulators to improve the conditions of small and medium enterprises.
