For years, Malta's environment has been little more than a footnote in local society's book of public priorities.

But with waste piling up, fish farm sludge lapping at our beaches and urban sprawl gobbling up the countryside, it's becoming harder and harder for politicians to kick the proverbial green bucket down the road.

In this Times Talk interview, Environment Minister José Herrera acknowledges problems with environmental enforcement, discusses the jostling for position that comes with cabinet meetings and argues that there's nothing inconsistent in the way in which he picks his environmental battles.

Watch the full interview on Wednesday morning on the Times of Malta website.
